Theme by John Williams nabbed from another movie

John Williams's main theme from The Paper Chase was basically the theme from Valley of the Dolls. The irony is that John Williams scored Valley of the Dolls, too; the main theme in Valley of the Dolls, however, was by Andre Previn (later a hit for Dionne Warwick). Don't know how intentional the similarity was, but the melodies are very similar, and the harmonies almost identical, too.

I noticed that, too. At least the first part of the theme is virtually identical to "Dolls."

Most of the music was a pain to listen to anyway. Sure, John Williams did well making a couple popular main themes (Indiana Jones, Star Wars), but most of his music is grating and annoying.

How can you say that? Mr Williams is one of the finest composers in the world. If you think his music is "annoying", then I suggest you have mommy put your Barney cd in for you. It's about your level of comprehension.

reply

I assumed that Andre Previn had composed the score.
