The Chicken Coop

There have been few films that have moved me like 'Bread and Chocolate'. The scene involving the outcast immigrants, living in the wretched hen house, starts off rather comical--even absurd. Then, with the arrival of the nymph-like youths, it takes a serious heart-breaking turn. Bizet's somber Adagio in C underscores this emotional scene. It's an amazing moment, where you want to laugh one minute, and cry the next!

I just bought the DVD and watched it again today. The scene in the chicken coop is one that I never forgot. I love this movie, and can see how it can be an allegory for so many different problems.

Yeah, like it says on the poster for the film "You'll laugh until your heart breaks".
