Interesting undersea sci-fi film

I must admit, when I first saw this in the winter of 1985, I had thought that this was something right out of the Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea television series(the "forgettable" third and fourth seasons that is). It wouldn't be until 2001, that I would have the opprotunity of watching this film once again, on the Sci-Fi Channel.

For 1973, it wasn't that bad of a science fiction picture. Granted it would have been better without the giant killer sealife. Nevertheless, it had some very interesting moments.

Ben Gazzara, Ernest Borgnine, Yvette Mimieux, Walter Pidgeon, Michael J. Reynolds, Ken Pogue, Donnelly Rhodes, and the rest of the cast do an excellent job with the material they have been given.

If you enjoy the type of movies to watch on a rainy Saturday or Sunday afternoon, then you won't be disappointed by this production from Canada. If nothing else, I would recommend the undersea films Voyage To the Bottom Of the Sea, Ice Station Zebra, and The Abyss, in case The Neptune Factor doesn't cut it for cinema goers.

i agree this was a good movie but have you seen around the world under the sea?

reply

Can't say that I have.

Why does it have to be raining outside for you to enjoy this movie? If it was bright and sunny outside the movie would be lousy?

I thought this film was an okay diversion at best. The underwater photography and Yvette Mimeux were both beautiful, but the draggy pace and a crippling dearth of tension doom this one to outright mediocrity.

I've been chasing grace/ But grace ain't easy to find
