The pool-cleaning machine

Towards the beginning of the film there is a scene where Robert Culp's character is standing along side a swimming pool and a weird pool cleaning (chlorinating?) machine is at work in it, floating along the surface. It squirts Robert on the legs...chrlorine? There are no pool attendants nearby. Anybody ever seen a machine like this before?

Thanks,
Ryan

Yeah, it is an old one. I don't think they make it anymore since the Eighties. BTW, the same type of pool cleaning machine appeared in another movie called "The Night of the Comet".

I have the Diamond DVD, there is no scene with a pool cleaning machine I am certain. Also who is 'the minister' and who are Mr and Mrs Olson?

The scene is not in the Paragon video version (which was duped for every DVD release), it was included in the longer alternate cut that aired on AMC back when they were still airing movies.

This scene must be in the version that aired on AMC. I have watched the Mill Creek version, and the stand alone dvd version from Diamond at least 30 times and there is no pool scene in those.
