It's not as good as the 1947 version, but better than the 1994 version IMO. I didn't care for the 1994 version.

Spiders! They want me to tapdance! I don't wanna tapdance!

I agree about the 1994 version. The whole "feel" of it is wrong, and there's something HORRIBLY wrong with a version of Miracle on 34th Street that doesn't include that mass-entry into the courtroom by the post office delivery people with the letters to Santa. To me, the entire meaning was changed when it was the little girl's "in God we trust" that won the case rather than the post office!

Watch the 1947 Version.

All others are crap.

Just want to get my licks in on this movie. This was the worst movie I have ever seen.

First, an AMC pulling Santa's float. If only it were a Pacer! I expected to see gaskets rupturing and oil leaking.

Second, the adult themes of divorce and sexual overtone of the "lawyer" and the overworked uptight liberated "Mary Tyler Moore" lead character was so, 1970ish. The threatened anathesiologist, so ready to dreamily put out, really torqued me too. Man she created an uptight, possessive tension, 1970-syle. At least she's available w/o the baggage.

The sound track was horrible.

Seb Cabot was an anal eccentric. He stressed me New York style. Man, just give us the presents and stop prosthetyzing. Stop fidgeting, Santa. Have some self-confidence, man.

Hey, Merry Christmas, if the Gas Crisis goes aways and the Russians don't bomb us...

I THOUGHT this movie was pretty bad too.

One other blast not related to Miracle on 34th Street's adult themes. Actually the worst movie I've ever seen is They Shoot Horses Don't They?

I'm going over to that site now to bag on that dreck.

And in this version the lawyer goes to the post office and causes them to send the letters to the courthouse. That's just not the way it should be,.

I will admit to bias because this is the version that I grew up with, but IMHO this is the best version of this story.

I dismiss all the denigrating comments on the 70's - it was a contemporary 70's version ! I also owned two AMC's (both Eagles) and drove a Concord for work. Again, a feature of the times.

Try it, see if you like it.

I agree with you totally......decent movie and AMC made decent vehicles.....much better built than Chrysler who took them over....OP is clueless

Anybody who likes these movies might like to watch 'Defending Santa (2013). Same story and it's very good IMO.
