an underground classic !

... as a producer on medusa george hamilton probably wielded the power to showcase his acting talents in this film and he does let it all hang loose in this one. he plays a troubled sociopathic playboy who has a strange relationship with his sister while at the same time he's in far too deep with the mob. the obvious comparison is warren beatty and this movie suggests hamilton should be a much bigger star (perhaps on a par with beatty) and not known only as the suave debonaire millionaire with the perpetual tan. just didn't get the right roles i guess. his performance is sweeping and he should have got the academy award for this movie. i'll bet he wasn't even nominated. the always spectacular cameron mitchell gives a frightening performance as a ruthless underworld loan shark ...

... gordon hessler clearly had some talent as a director and he gives this film vitality and punch. a great idiosyncratic pyschological character study film ...

You can't be serious... You just can't. I found this is that Chilling Classics 50 Movie Pack.

The direction was gawd awful. Editing even worse, if that's even possible. Story line get a double thumbs down.

I do agree that Cameron Mitchell should bet honorable mention for managing to make some sense of his role in this. I also agree that George Hamilton is a highly underrated actor and deserved MUCH BETTER film roles. But this one... an Academy Award nomination? Yeah... right...

Cameron Mitchell has done a few stinkers of his own but he's also IMHO another highly underatrated actor. For another really bad B-- film for Cameron watch 'Memorial Valley Massacre'.
