yep, great film and it deserves to be seen in the theatre. it's not a movie to be watching while you're loitering up and down from your sofa, talking to buddies or putting scenes on repeat - needs to be watched in one go, and with the attention pulled by a big screen.

Lots of people have pointed out how implausible this story and its people would be today. I agree, but that's plainly because a style like Alexandre's is out of date, out of fashion now. Like Zabriskie Point, this is a film about people who don't measure themselves in commercial values and who are not aiming for half an hour of fame (even if Alexandre is a poser in a sense, he's a deeply honest poser, honest to his beliefs and values). Nor are they cynical. Careless sometimes, but not prone to brush off people in a jiffy for not having the right kind of handbag or the right accent.
