I couldn't say it's a masterpiece

I adore Godard's and Truffaut's movies. But I didn't like this one. It's not because it's long or because I can't understand the 70's.
Actually, I think that the people from this period won't find the movie very special or original. It's true, that for our generation, the 70's is something like a cult.
But if in nowadays, I do the same thing, but with a guy "Baby rocker" style, who is drinkig, who is smoking, who is going out with girls and reciting poetry...I don't think it will become a masterpiece.
The dialogues are great. But all they're doing during the film is : drinking coffee, drinking whiskey, smoking (a lot and everywhere), reciting poetry and so on...I'm sorry, but I don't think it's a masterpiece.
Although, I like the end.

Also, this movie made me think about Bertoloucci's "The Dreamers"
