It doesn’t happen much to anyone in the US, now or then.
Maybe in Europe.

According to screenwriter John Milius, it only appeared in this flick because Clint’s female fans wrote that they wanted to see women come on to him, so he accommodated that in two extra scenes. Neither was in the original script.
