I'm curious...

Would you go to the Theatre to see
Max Julien if he starred in
another iconic role like
"The Mack" today?

The character wouldn't be like
the one in "The Mack" but it
would be iconic.

Please let me know.

A western where Julien is a mortician who protects women. Doesn't sound oscar worthy to me. Sounds like would involve a scene where some jive turkey rat-soup eatin' "Man" would try and put a stop to the operation. Also, based off of Julien's previous roles, I wouldn't imagine he would be cast in much else.

You can find a good copy of "The Mack" on
DVD or VHS on eBay that's where I found

Considering that you don't know what
my story is about; you wouldn't know
if it was "Oscar" worthy or not.

Also I wouldn't care; all I care
about is writing a great script
with unforgettable characters.

And I was just using the "Oscars"
as a benchmark to make a point.

We all know that the "Oscars" is
a celebrated political driven

Hi,

I don't remember the writings from college because
they were basically just assignments that coincided
with the making of the movies we had to do...

"Your Pleasure is my Business" is a 7-minute
short about a lady who is writing her
memoirs about her past life as a prostitute.
Its told in flashbacks and she decides to
not write the book after she realizes that
she cannot be true to herself.

I would say that my writing style is mainstream...
I am writing/working on screenplays in just
about every genre...
1.BIOS
2.Horror
3.Science Fiction
4.Western
5.Drama
6.Action-Adventure
7.Musical
8.Comedy

Saturdays BUT it's cool because the stories are
moving forward.

I prefer Drama to anything, but I can't help but write with Comedy. I write stories with a dry sense of humor, which is why when most people I write to or talk to think I am from either East or South Africa (since the majority of comedy which comes from there is uber-dry). I found my redneck piece, here's a sample:

"As we walk, Matt has his right arm attached to his right hip and his left arm is slowly moving to the beat of his upper torso: back and forth. His lower body does not move at all. He has a look of determination on his face. A look that there is a purpose to where he is hiking to. He resembles a human version of RoboCop looking to find Boddicker."

That was my favorite part because it is exactly how he walks/moves: stiff and determined.

Hmm... I would say maybe 15. I burn a lot of movies, though. I recently got a burner and have been "going to town," as they say, on getting movies. I try to get to the cinemas once a week, but sometimes that doesn't happen because of horrible films out there and the theaters mainly playing PG-13 flicks. Nothing against PG-13, but most of them are teen romp flicks and I am not a teen anymore/never really liked those types of movies.
I ordered Cannibal Holocaust recently, but that's about it. The last movies I got were The Dead Pool (had to complete the Dirty Harry collection), Matrix, and Karate Kid.
Speaking of burners, I just did a story on a huge Giants fan ("Big Game" on Sunday story), who bought a DVD burner just so he could put all his NY Giants stuff from VHS to DVD. He wanted to do this so he could preserve the games/sports briefs forever and to keep them for his kids. He has about 10 games, and 12 tapes filled with briefs/training videos. He does not have children and does not plan to have them for a long time. Now, that's nuts!
What are some of your favorite movies?

BEST so I won't name any until I bring

2.Scarface*
3.The Godfather I,II,III
4.Carmen Jones*
5.Gang Smashers*
6.Tamango*
7.Bright Road
8.The Crying Game
9.Predator
10.Robocop
11. The Omen and The Omen II*
12. The Red Balloon
13. The Red Shoes
14. Body and Soul

16. Blacula*
17. Bugsy*
18. How to Marry a Millionaire
19. Daughters of the Dust
20. Die Hard*
21. Foxy Brown*
22. Unforgiven
23. The Decks Ran Red*
24. Hallelujah
25. Dog Day Afternoon
BONUS: Goodfellas*

*I watch these films almost every other week along with new ones that
I try to add. I still have some new ones to watch but I must find the
time to sit down long enough to view them (lol)

YOU do watch a lot of movies! Hey that's GREAT! I need to schedule
more time to watch films. I hate to say it BUT I haven't been to
the movies since June 25, 2006 (I saw the DiVinci Code on my B-Day
and fell asleep!) I must also get into the grove of going at least

Favorite movies? There are too many to name. If I had to say a few it would be: Giant, East of Eden, Chinatown, Spartacus, Clockwork Orange, Halloween, The Thing (John Carpenter's), The Haunting (50's version), 2001: A Space Odyssey, From Here to Eternity, Evil Dead Trilogy, The French Connection, Jaws, Death Wish, Fight Club, The Fly (original and remake), The Living Dead series, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original), Predator, well, you see where this list is going.

I didn't get to movies as often as I wanted in 2007. But, I would have to say SuperBad was one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. I liked it because American Pie was the stuff you wish you could have done in high school, looking back at it. SuperBad is what you did do; making it so much funnier.
The Mist was really good because of depiction of helplessness from something you think can't be true. Not only that but trying to convince others that you are right but they won't believe you until it's too late is a familiar subject to me. Not in the sense of life and death, but because I am a major smart ass/doesn't take me long to figure out things (I'm really good with puzzles), people tend not to want to believe what I say. And I always wind up being right.
Hostel Part II was OK. I wouldn't say it was bad, but it was just like Roth's other movies: an homage. I'm not dogging Roth, who I think is an amazing director of horror, but he could stop with the homages.
Halloween was pretty good, but Zombie could have zoomed out once or twice while filming. I love the realistic depiction of Michael. I knew people who had parents like Michael did and it made the film real to me. One of those guys who had parents like that is a banker now (go figure). The other one is in a band.

I'm sure the academy will give Atonement the Oscar for best picture, snubbing Anderson's well-deserved statue.
Who do you think is a good runner for the Best Picture?

So you like Stanley Kubrick huh; I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE
Full Metal Jacket and the 2 you mentioned above are
great too! I like the others you mentioned too!
Looks like we share some of the same taste (smile)!

Considering that I didn't see any of the movies;
I will tell you who I would like to win based
on the genre that I like...

"There will be Blood" - I hope it wins!

Great Title; I read that the performances
were mesmerizing; I love this type of genre
so I plan on at least seeing this one before
the Oscars...

I think Daniel Day Lewis is an incredible actor!
I've seen most of the films he has starred in.
Two of my favorites from him...
1.The Unbearable Lightness of Being
2.In the Name of the Father

I hope "There will be Blood" doesn't get
snubbed by the sappy "Atonement" YUCK!

Have you seen "There will be Blood" yet?

I am a fan of old horror films. They are so much better than the new ones. The remake of Prom Night? What the hell? People can't come up with their own bad ideas (which is something I posted on the Prom Night (2008) board). The Thing and Halloween were the best of the old horror flicks, I think. They were so raw and real. Like the character of MacReady being a down-on-his-luck guy who hates his life is thrown into being a hero who has to save his friends from a something he has no idea what it is. The reactions like, "Did you see that dog!?" are amazing! And Kubrick? Wow, there is nothing I can say about that genius that hasn't been said before. His films should be preserved forever so many generations can see what a film is made to look like.
There Will Be Blood is something I wanted to see for sometime now. When I went to visit my friends in State College for a weekend, we were going to see that, but it wasn't playing. I think it should win, but I know Atonement will capitalize. The Deppanator will win for best actor, most likely. I'm not saying he sucks, I'm saying he doesn't deserve an Oscar.
In case you haven't heard, Cannibal Holocaust has been announced to be remade awhile ago and the original director is going to do it. On the commentary for the original, he says, "I never thought this movie would be as popular as it is. With the release of [films such as Hostel and Cabin Fever] I understand America likes this type of horror. I hope they will enjoy the one I am going to do in '09."
It wasn't exactaly that, but it was close. I think the remake will suck, but oh well, most remakes do.

I can watch "Predator" forever (LOL)

I guess since "Depp" has been nominated for the past 3 to 4 years;
they may give him the Oscar or they may not...

Sweeny Todd is a very gory movie so I don't know...I heard
he sings well though.

I used to love seeing Stanley Kubicks movies at midnight when
they would do a Warner Bros. special showing all of their movies
