Anybody who says that ANYONE but Dame Shirley Bassey is the best Bond singer is crazier than Auric Goldfinger. To those of us who grew up with the Connery Bond films of the 1960s, there was one, and ONLY one, singer who could lay claim to being the greatest Bond singer of all time.
With all due regard to the fabulous talent of Adele, and with great recognition of such fine artists as Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Lulu, Tina Turner, Madonna, Carly Simon, Rita Coolidge, Sheena Easton, Alicia Keys, I could go on and on ... there will for all time, now and forever, be only one true Bond singer: The fabulous Dame Shirley Bassey !!!
Shirley IS Bond. She is the very essence of Bond. Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, Moonraker. Three Bond songs; no one else has more than one. She may yet do a fourth.

shareOh, "everybody"! Maybe you should consider the possibility that not "everybody" is up to their neck in the minutiae of mass whoring known as popular culture. And it wasn`t so much a joke as it was a critique of the obnoxious habit of today`s entertainers to be known by their first names only - so buddy-buddy that the bamboozled consumer can practically begin to invent false memories of having gone to kindergarten together with the pop star. And then they buy their piece-of-sh-t product.
Incidentally though this Miss Adkins`s Skyfall song is pretty okay.

I'd say Shirley is the best singer, but not necessarily the one with the best song. Big difference.
If you're talking about songs...and don't forget, she also did the utterly forgettable theme to Man With the Golden Gun...then Live & Let Die, A View to a Kill, and Nobody Does It Better rate higher. I'd put Goldfinger just behind those three in the same group with You Know My Name and Skyfall.
