Is it even worth mentioning that...

Even though this movie is G rated, the word "Bitch" can be heard. I found that out when I first saw the movie. It is heard at the beginning where the sea witch says it while preparing a storm that sinks a ship. I honestly did not think that a swear word would be said in a cartoon like this. Another example of a G rated movie that uses a single swear word is The Secret of NIMH, where the character Justin says "Damn".

They really should edit these out next time because it makes kids want to say them. If this movie is re released they better take out the Bitch part.

When I saw it on YouTube I was very surprised that it was said.

Did anyone else notice that when you first saw the movie?

Wow, I didn't even notice that! I don't think they should edit it, maybe just bump up the rating to PG considering how the rating system back when film came out is very different from the rating system today. Some films with sex in them were rated PG back then, whereas today they are PG-13 or R. I don't think it really makes kids want to say it; I didn't notice it when I was little, although I only watched this version when I went to my grandma's house. I watched "Home Alone" for years until I realized that the big brother says "a**" or something, and by then I was out of the age where I wanted to repeat everything I heard. So long as the word's not emphasized so it stands out substantially, I think little kids are in little danger of repeating.

"Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart."

Sorry for bringing this up but I have something to say about this that I think needs to be addressed, I'm pretty sure the sea witch doesn't say the word bitch at all, what I think she actually says is "You call me an evil woman little fish" I think the reason you interpreted it as bitch instead of fish is because the audio quality is so staticy and so hard to understand at times (all releases of this movie in english seem to have a poor quality audio source), that it's hard to make out the F and sh parts, I say this because the f and sh sounds can sometimes blend into static to the point where those sounds are almost non-existent and hard to interpret, I'm willing to bet that if a High Quality audio master for the english dub were to be released you would hear the word fish and not bitch.

You were right, Superrayman4

It is "fish" and not bitch. I saw it on YouTube again and what the sea witch says is indeed fish. I must have mistook it for bitch because I own the original VHS and when I saw it, I assumed that is what she said.

Well to be fair most VHS copies of this film out there are the "Star Maker" version which was recorded in EP mode (some Star Maker copies say they're recorded in SP mode but I call nonsense on such claims because if you compare a version that isn'marked as SP to a version that is you'll see that they roughly contain the same amount of tape) and the audio takes a massive hit in terms of clarity as a result, I'd like to find an original film print of this movie and see how clear the audio actually is.

See the new thread I just posted for links to various ways of getting your hands on the original. Buying it from Toei, or a safe torrent link to a VLC file that plays all 4 languages. It is a joy to see the original in widescreen, and to hear it in the original language as well. Very clear audio! I loved listening to the soundtrack without ANY fuzziness, noticing all sorts of subtle instrumentals I never heard before.
