I just wanted to see if anyone else thought Fritz is the funniest cutest thing! I love the scene where Marina is saying how handsome the prince says and Fritz says "I'm handsome too, aren't I?" I love him!!! Does anyone else have a favorite Fritz moment?

I feel really sorry for him when he finds out that Marina is going to die, and when he chases her spirit across the sea at the end. I'm not sure but I think the guy who did his voice was the brother of the girl who did Marina's voice. Can anybody confirm that?
shareIn the opening credits the voices of Marina and Fritz both have the same last name (I think it is "Bishop".) But I'm not sure how they are related.
shareI love him, too! I'm sure Disney ripped him off to create Flounder, seeing as how Andersen's fairy tale doesn't have an animal sidekick, and Toei's version of the story came out before Disney's version.
I like when the Sea Witch talks to Marina for the first time, and Fritz stood up after being hit, only to faint. So cute! All of the times that he cries because of Marina (when Marina leaves the Sea Witch, when he learns that the prince will marry another, etc.) make me feel so depressed. Then, when he calls after Marina at the end, I just lose it. My heart breaks. I'm normally not into artistic licenses of original works, but I was okay with the addition of Fritz. Ariel's friends, on the other hand, are so annoying.
Yes, Fritz is very funny and cute. Coincidentally, that is my favourite Fritz moment as well.

For me, Fritz is the most put upon character in this story. Marina and the Prince make their own beds and have to sleep in them at the end. Fritz is a completely selfless character. He risks his life (on multiple occasions) to save Marnia. He clearly loves her and would do anything to protect her.
And Marina casts him aside for a boy she loves only because he looks like that miserable statue. They never have an actual conversation. The Prince even says that he wants to marry Marina only because he can't find the other girl. How romantic.
As a kid, the scene of Fritz chasing Marina's spirit as it ascends broke my heart.

^ Hahaha, well put! Yeah, I watched this movie for the first time since I was a kid nearly twenty years ago. (It's on Youtube). I also thought Fritz was a blast to watch. A trooper!
