Why did Karen Black do this movie?

She was nominated for an Oscar for Five Easy Pieces, and had a string of pretty good movies come out after that. But this? Her screentime is less than the title would suggest. Everything about this movie is terrible, apart from Black, who manages to camp up some of the horrendous dialogue. I'm having a hard time imagining why she would take this role during her 70s prime.

The trivia section for this film lists it as being in production in 1969. If that is correct then I would say it was not released until 1973 to cash in on the later success of Karen Black.
