Was it this movie?

I remember seeing a movie when I was young where the letters were lost for a one year. At the end, after reconciling, one person decides not to open the letter and just throw it in the fireplace I believe. What I really remember is the boy asking his father to bring him back a bottle from the airplane or restaraunt or something like that. He even gave his father a note reminding him and his father orders that drink 'creme de menthe' I believe. I thought the movie was 'Letters From Three Lovers' but I recently acquired a copy of that one and these scenes are not in it.
Anyone know?

There were 2 movies on this theme. One was The Letters and the other was Leterss From Three Lovers. I don't know which one had the story you are referring to. But hoping you have found it by now. Both of them very good and I hope to find them on video or DVD.

You're talking about "The Letters," and that was the John Forsyth/Lesley Ann Warren segment. The other film was a sequel. You can find various bootleg copies of it w/ an online search.
