Wizard of Oz

It's the Wizard of Oz remade by freaks, porn actors, and pedophiles on bad acid. Some folks apparently like that sort of thing. I don't. Gave it a three.

Very clever. Stick to the Expendables 1 and 2. I'm sure that's more to your liking.

Never seen either, never plan to. But you go on being an ass. It's a free country.

reply

Not to be an ass but if you're going to crap on a film, why don't you explain why instead of just saying you didn't like it.

You Just come off as some teeny bopper that only likes mainstream films.

I thought I was perfectly clear.

It's the same plot as the Wiz of Oz. Young person makes a surrealist trip seeking the ultimate prize and finds self enlightenment instead. Virtually every scene in it had a Wiz counterpart. Dorothy done as a horny teenager. The Wiz midgets, in this case, were a leacherous freak beating his wife, a ticket salesman etc who wants to bed the kid. The scarecrow was a pedophile bus driver with a hardon for the kid. The monkeys were "zombies". The witch trying to mislead the kid was the vampire, the dad was the Wiz. In at least two scenes I can recall, well *could*, can't now, the vampire lady was even made up exactly like the witch, green tinged skin, hook nose etc. Watch the bus scene where the driver/scarecrow gets caught by the zombies/monkeys. Watch the vampire's first appearance.

I'm sure everyone here noticed all that, right?

Me, I tend to assume that everyone here is at least as smart as I am, most probably a bit smarter, and that every single word doesn't have to be spelled out.

Want me to explain now how Michael Jackson's "The Wiz" was a remake of Wizard of Oz, too?

Always entertaining when some moronic teenage kid comes on here and tries to school other people about why they shouldnt enjoy a movie because they didn't.

Live and let die you twit.

reply

Turned 50 this past month. Thanks anyway, dickhead. As to telling you to enjoy it or not, I don't give a rat's ass if you enjoyed it or not. *You* probably wacked off to it, though. I made a very short post on why *I didn't like it*. You decided to act like a jackass, jackass. Like I said, though, it's a free country. If you like to whack off on pervert movies, have fun. I don't.

What mainstream movies might those be? And yes, you are an ass.

reply

Woah dude, keep your panties on. Agree to disagree

I had problems with the movie myself, but boiling this down to a Wizard of Oz rip-off does this film a great disservice. They are similar in that both films use symbols to tell their stories, but that's as far as you get. The Wizard of Oz is considered to be a serious political parody about the depression of the 1890s. The symbolism in Lemora vastly differs as it revolves around religion and sexuality. It's about a young girl losing her innocence and being corrupted by 'sin' (i.e. lesbianism or promiscuity ).

Personally, I give the film a 6.5/10.

reply

I didn't say "rip off", dumbass, I said remake. The same basic plot. The same as Michael Jackson's remake. Same basic plot, just dirtier, grungier, filthier, and with more diseases. Every character in this pile of crap had a counterpart in Oz. Every plot tool, every twist. If you can't see that, you're either a teenager or you're stupid.

Richard Blackburn, the director and co-writer of the film, said his two major literary influences of the film were Arthur Machen's The White People and H.P. Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth. As for film influences, he brought up The Night of the Hunter and Moonfleet:

No mention of The Wizard of Oz, dumbass.

You can watch Blackburn talk about his inspirations for Lemora around 3:46 here:
