One part Shaw Bros kung-fu, one part Shaw horror, one part Hammer Van Helsing

Such a strange combination of elements. This film is like a cross between Shaw's Human Lanterns and Hammer's Horror of Dracula.

I love movies like this, ones that take genre-bending to the extreme. Especially in this case since I'm a massive fan of the Shaw Bros catalog of martial arts films AND I love Peter Cushing's Van Helsing.

The first time I watched this film I hated it. But sometimes when I really don't like a film it turns out I was just in the wrong frame of mind at the time I watched it, so I gave it a second chance and it was better the second time around. It still is my least favorite of the series, though. Just feels more like a martial arts film than a Dracula movie to me.
