Blind Dead similarities?

I caught this on Japanese TV the other night, and the slow motion horseback scenes and mobs of robed zombies reminded me of the Blind Dead movies that were being made at roughly the same time. Anyone else see the influence?

reply

About time someone else caught on: Good work!

Squonkish one, good to see you on IMDb! This is your buddy in Japan!

reply

Yes, I had the same feeling! Similarities also included the blood rituals and the comeback of the rubber hand! ;-) But the golden vampires were better fighters...

Agree entirely about the slo-mo horse riding, straight from the Blind Dead quadrilogy for sure.

Also, at the beginning when Dracula stands bolt upright in his coffin - an obvious nod to 1922's Nosferatu.

De Ossorio & Murnau are fine directors to be influenced by though!

Legend...is an absolute treat; vampires, martial arts, boobies, Peter Cushing and the 'long haired layabout' from Bless This House - what's not to like!!

reply

Yeah definitely got that! Especially with the horses, and the scenes of them attacking the town. Just with more hand to hand combat and gratuitous boobs :p
I like the Blind Dead well enough, but liked this more!
