If you're a fan of Skinny Puppy...

...then you will LOVE this movie. Nearly every sample the band used in its first two albums comes from "Hell House."
If you don't care about Skinny Puppy but like horror cinema, you should still see this movie. Though it falls apart towards the end, the first half is very atmospheric and thoroughly creepy. And as hokey as the ending is, I can still appreciate the effort to use science vs. spirituality as the central conflict of the film.
Also, while the plot ultimately fails, the acting and direction are outstanding. Not as good as "The Haunting of Hill House," which has an almost identical premise, but still definitely worth seeing. Especially if you like early Skinny Puppy.

I agree, check out the first two SP CD's Remission and Bites. I had shadowcast as my email address many years ago, we must think a lot alike :-)

I'm a huge SP fan. I know all their songs by heart. I can usually name the movie from which every clip in their songs came from. I noticed the "Church in hell" clip right off the bat while watching 'Hell House'... but I didn't recognize any other clips. What others are on "Remission" and "Bites?"

Having checked up on the web I discovered the following "Legend of Hell House" quotations in songs by "Skinny Puppy".
BITES/REMISSION: "Survival after death"
ICE BREAKER: "Welcome to my house. I'm delighted you could come. I'm certain you will find your stay here most illuminating. Think of me as your unseen servant, and believe that during your stay here I shall be with you in spirit. May you find the answer that you seek. It is here, I promise you. And now, auf wieder sehen.
BASEMENT: "I don't know you people. Why are you here? It does no good. Nothing changes, nothing! I don't want to hurt you but I must. Get out of this house before I kill you all."
"Drug addiction, alcoholism, sadism, beastiality, mutilation, murder, vampirism, necrophilia, cannabalism, not to mention a gamut of sexual goodies..."
CHURCH: "Church in hell."
LOVE: "Drunk, clutching, sweating, biting. All together, naked, drunk, clutching, sweating biting. Touch me, touch me or I'll find someone who will!
I love you too"

I've always wondered what movie the voices at the end of "Addiction" come from. There's a woman muttering to herself, something like "...what's happened?", then a man says "Excuse me, miss". "YES??".

Do you know where they got that?

There used to be a great website that listed all of this stuff called the Top Sample Listings or something like that, but sadly it was taken down.

I'm not sure where that sample came from, but here is a website that has a list of most of the samples within Skinny Puppy tracks. Some of them have the sources listed, but most of them do not.
