Better Than Burnt Offerings?

Ive heard people compare these two movies, and I want to know, was this movie actually better than Burnt Offerings, because I didn't really like Burnt Offerings that much.

Both are good, but Burnt Offerings is not really about a haunted house.
Not sure what you would call that house but it's not haunted.
Possessed maybe? (Anyone who's seen Burnt Offerings?)

Burnt Offerings was one of the movies that scared me most in my life as a child.

I dislike Burnt Offerings, but this is a great movie. See it!

The two houses in both films are initially evil. The difference being that Hell House was made evil by Emerick Belasco. People died because of him.

Burnt Offerings was like being sacrificed to some weird old people. When the people died it was their lives that was being put into the house renewing it. So a bit different.

Dan Curtis has excellent atmosphere in B.O. and the same with Hell House.

The stories are a lot different. Both are great haunted house movies!

The Legend of Hell House may be the best ghostie film ever made!

Burnt Offerings SUCKED!!! I hated that movie. I saw it in the theatre as a kid because I had a crush on Lee Montgomery, but I HATED it. It made me loathe Oliver Reed for a long, long time. Royal Flash redeemed him in my eyes when I finally saw that in the 80's. DON'T compare Hell House to that tripe!

"...Hell House" is an excellent ripoff of "The Haunting" and probably the two are compared more than with "Burnt Offerings". Even Marascos' novel on which "BO" (That reads badly!) is based shares little similarity to Mathesons' book. Dan Curtis' "Burnt Offerings" was supposed to have a troubled production which ultimately damaged the final product. It's not a very good pic but for genre fans it has some appeal.

Hell House is way better. No comparison.

This movie is ok, I did not find it that scary, but Burnt Offerings made me so afraid as a kid! I've watched it again recently and it's scarier to me than Legend.
