Are there other movies like this?

I showed this movie to my 22-year old daughter, and she was blown away by it. She wanted to know if there were any other movies like this. By "this" she means a logically constructed mystery movie where all the clues are available for the perceptive viewer and where the final solution is logical and fits all the clues. With the possible exception of a few movies based on Agatha Christie novels ("Death on the Nile" comes to mind), I really couldn't think of any. There are many mystery movies with surprise or twist endings, but very few where all the clues are presented so clearly for the viewer to evaluate.

Can anyone think of a movie comparable to "Last of Shiela"?

Aside from the many excellent Agatha Christie adaptations (And Then There Were None, Witness For The Prosecution, Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, The Mirror Crack'd, Evil Under The Sun, etc.), the only other great whodunits I can think of are Laura, Sleuth and Deathtrap. Although not really a whodunit, you might also enjoy Hitchcock's Rope.

Cheers!

Sleuth.................EXCELLENT CHOICE!
But the original with Lawrence Olivier and Michael Caine.

Also look for a made for television film titled "One of my Wives is Missing".
Starring James Franciscus and Jack Klugman.

All are excellent suggestions!

I have to agree with 'Sleuth' being a good, somewhat similar, film. But I definitely would say ONLY the original. The remake was horrible.

I realize this thread is nearly five years old, but still... Maybe it still helps someone.

If you're interested in convoluted murder mysteries, full of red herrings and crazy plot twists, you should dig into the Italian gialli movies! They are overall extremely complex and grotesque murder mysteries, but - contrary to films like "The Last of Sheila" - they also feature sadistic violence, gore and sex.
Title examples: "Forbidden photos of a lady above suspicion", "suspected death of a minor", "Death Walks at midnight", "Case of the Scorpion Tail", "Murder to the tune of the seven notes in Black", "Death Walks on High heels", "Black Belly of the Tarantula", "The bird with the Crystal Plumage", "Case of the Bloody Iris", "Your vice is a locked room and only I have the key", "The Killer reserved Nine seats" "What have you done to Solange", "The House with the Laughing windows" and many many more

Dance with me my dear. The dance of those who will never return...
