Beautifully designed, photographed and edited film

Fuest designed most of the sets and Norman Warwick's lighting illuminate them in a sharp, but surreal manner.Barrie Vince was a quick cutter in the 60s and 70s and the movie barrels along a good pace. Moorcock's story is wild but more serious, whereas Fuest's film is surreal, wonderfully gooofy yet motivated. This period of futuristic art was a Golden Age. From Planet of the Apes and 2001 until Logan's Run, we had some wild sci-fi! The Stars Wars brought us back to 'soft' sci-fi, ie. non-transgessive, non-subversive, non-pervy. In other words, quaint, positive, triumphant, mythological - and good. I like the Star Wars film. But American Graffiti is Lucas' best work, I feel.
