Junior JOHNSON!

I am not sure who Junior Jackson was, but this movie was based on the life of real-life NASCAR pioneer Junior Johnson. The man is at least due the respect of getting his name right!

The story is loosly based about junior johnson's life. The film was shot in 73 and junior moonshine running was in the 50's.

The speedway at the end was martinsville speedway in martinsville, va. Nascar still runs they today but it seats about 80,000 now and will be increasing the seating capacity next year.

The 12 coke junior jackson drove was driven by bobby allison.

Junior johnson was know the race hard the whole race. he either won or came back on wrecker.

@kirksmith thanks for the info on the speedway at the end of this great movie. i'm new to Nascar and i was wondering where they were racing/filming. the connection to moonshine running is very interesting. i never knew there was a connection but it certainly makes sense.
