Why is there no soundtrack listing for this movie? I used to own the soundtrack so I know it exists.

Neil Diamond did the whole soundtrack. You can find it on Amazon or order it through a local bookseller.

The sound track exists (or existed). The only format that I know is in acetate (the BIGS dics made of black backelite).
I have one.
O I'm looking for the CD version.

reply

the soundtrack is also available on iTunes, and so is the movie itself.

well, found some clips ( just the music portions) via youtube. really beautiful, might consider buying a copy of this

The soundtrack came out at about the peak of Neal's career, and you know how much people at the top get slammed. I have the album and still listen to it occasionally (it's getting pretty ragged.) It's a beautiful collection of songs and IMO caught the spirit of the movie quite well. I'd like to see it on cd also.

Is that a rumor or did you just make that up? -Mom

Umm, it's been available on CD for at least 10 years, as well as cassette, 8-track and vinyl. It is one of the greatest and best-selling of Neil's albums; the movie flopped but the album sure didn't. In fact, I'm listening to it as we speak by my regular Rhapsody subscription; it's an excellent anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication. BONUS - no prescription required! I recommend playing it loudly and often.

I've had the CD of it for over 20 years and even saw a new copy of it at Best Buy not a month ago. The soundtrack has always been readily available even when the movie was not.

You may have to look around for the soundtrack. I listen to mine all the time even now. I love the sweeping movement of the tunes and the songs are soaring and I am not being whatever. I saw the movie and was disapppointed in it. I thought they could have done a better job of it. I still have my original book I bought back when it first came out. For such a short book it really made one think. The movie is very hard to find but it is out there.

I wish I had saved my copy of the novel, which I read as a child. At least I still have Neil Diamond's soundtrack on vinyl. The soundtrack is good, but I agree it could have been better. Occasionally it seems at odds with the film.

I was in college when the book came out. It really hit the Bestsellers' List. The early 70's was like that. Searching for something. The movie was hopeless but the book and soundtrack were perfect and melded very well. I am listening to my CD soundtrack now at work.

The early '70s was a great time to be in college – to be alive in general. I miss that era greatly, and this film, for all its goofiness, brings me back to it.

Songbooks were cheap then also. I paid $20 for the complete "Simon and Garfunkle" songbook with all their songs and sheet music with lyrics in 1974 or so.I loved the '70's. College, streaking, dress code was anything goes, dorm life, first marriage and back to school for teaching credential. I still have that songbook too.
