JONAthan Livingstoned See?Gullable...

-I went to see "JLS" with a Hippie Student Teacher called: "A" & several other Hippies,in the George st, Sydney Cinemas.Soon as the gulls, started talking, people were getting up & walking out, in disgust, demanding their money back!My Girlfriend, at the time, was ultra-sensitive(despise coming from St. Ives!)& upset, imploring them, to stay & watch & learn...ironically, that same naive Hippie-gal,ened becoming the most INsensitive narrow minded B*tch, one could imagine?!(Go figure!)I liked the fact that Jonathan realised that in order to achieve, his initial dream, he had to adopt the(Predatory)Falcon's short wings! Years later, I met the American Pilot, who flew the replica Fokker DR-1 Triplane, for Neil Cottee's "Pacific Films" in Carlton, NSW. The Australian DOA refused to allow the 'plane, to fly & especially, under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as that Pilot proposed!Last I heard, that DR-1 Triplane is at the Point Cook Aviation Museum in Victoria. The Yank Pilot, told Me,he flew with Richard Bach, on the Movie: "Von Richtofen & Brown". Tonight, herein Sydney,it's the 1st time,I've seen this Movie, since it was released, over 30 years ago! I love how "Colonel Troutman"(Richard Crenna)is Jonathans strict father! "G#d didn't make,Jonathan Livingston Seagull...I did!" & "Chang" sounds familiar...like a Kung Fu Monk! To Me, "JLS" is "Cosmic",on many levels, few would understand, let alone believe..."The Airmen's Code", exists, beyond the Grave...
I hear,they're considering a Remake...with Steven Seagull! :)
If You didn't get/or like this Movie, when it 1st came out...You NEVER will! Just don't kill the rest of us, who DO, in your own Karmic ignorance...
Hermann Wilhelm Seagull...

ummm... what?

Compared to the book the movie was hopeless. The book and the soundtrack had it together. Too bad the movie didn't.

I've been hearing this argument for years and it has never made an ounce of sense to me. What does the book have that the movie doesn't? Not much, really, aside from a few lines of dialogue here and there that were cut from the movie.

It really is very simple. I read the book when I was about 13 or so and it was a book about a bird who likes to fly…. I read it again when I was about 15 and it was a completely different story. It was about seeing the world differently and looking for a higher/different meaning to life that we were taught. The book and words had not changed but my understanding had. So is also true of the music.
“You have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way".”
― Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull
A very powerful idea to put in the head of a 13 year old…

“You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn’t flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn’t have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there.”
― Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

“We can lift ourselves out of ignorance, we can find ourselves as creatures of excellence and intelligence and skill.”
― Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

I love the film, but Richard hates it because Hall Bartlett filmed some scenes which weren't in the book, thus violating Richard's right to final cut. That's why Richard sued Bartlett and had his name taken off the movie as much as possible (Richard wrote the screenplay, but since he had his name taken off the film, screenplay credit went to Bartlett instead).
