Remake?

This documentary was filmed in the 70's. Give me your opinions, would another Hendrix documentary get through? You got to bring Rock back to the people nowdays..

a Biographical picture like "RAY" and "Walk the Line" would work.

reply

who would play hendrix though?

reply

Without a doubt...Terrence Howard, hands down the dude would give an award nominating performance. Or Michael Ealy, who looks kinda like Jimi, would do a great job too.

Personally, I could see Terrence Howard doing an excellent Billy Cox.

reply

TERENCE HOWARD as Billy COX is DEAD ON.
and I hate to say it, but I have to agree with Marlon Wayans.
If he could act, he would be excellent. But Jimi is also alot of personality, so that counts alot.

reply

Great idea, all you need is a time machine so you can go back and interview all those people all over again. Or better yet, save the original 16mm interview footage from being trashed by Warner Brothers (see Joe Boyd's book White Bicycles, page 250).

Maybe a re-release in theaters, but otherwise this was by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. And who would say "whilst he ****ed it 'round the front" again?

reply

A movie, maybe. Depicting his life.

And yeah dude, people need to be re-introduced to the concept of rock. I mean, now we've got this emo screaming crap, and they've forgotten the meaning of rock n' roll.

reply

Of all the actors you named, how many are left-handed? I mean, you can learn how to play guitar, but you can't really learn to be left-handed.

reply

I know that the following person makes the complete opposite of hendrix's music, but what about Snoop Dogg playing Jimi in a biographical movie? I think his body fits Hendrix quite good :)

reply

Snoop CANNOT act

i heard that Andre from outkast was supposed to play Jimi... He does look alot like him

reply

wow. a disgrace to the rock legend. how dare you say snoop Marlon wayans give me a break to critize the greatest giutarist of all time if not the greatest the most influenical. Dont make a little joke and post a disgrace uincalssy message like that. But i want a "WAlk the Line" type deal. I would see it 100 times and then own it on dvd.

reply

Marlon Wayans? NO!
Andre from Outkast would fit, with the look and so on.

And I agree lorentzenbrian, they should either do it good or dont bother at all.

Hendrix wasn't left-handed, despite the fact he played guitar that way. There's a well-known photograph of Hendrix writing song lyrics with his right hand, proving that he was in fact right-handed. I know several right-handers who play left-handed guitar. Also there are some famous left-handers (Mark Knopfler, Gary Moore) who play guitar in the conventional manner.

Or, he could have been left-handed and wrote right-handed. Nevertheless, it's tough to teach someone who is right-handed how to play left-handed.

reply

The problem at this point is that the Hendrix estate wants to sanitize Jimi's image. They won't allow his music in films with drugs in them, like Jimi never took drugs! The man was a drug taking machine, stories of his tolerance to acid and the like are legend! It's sad that Janie Hendrix wants to rewrite history and clean up Jimi's act. The people should know the man and his music as well as his faults.

I don't know but I could really see Will Smith pull off a great Jimi.
He has the potential to!
