Great B Movie

What more can you want in a movie than the great William Smith, combined with lots of breasts? How can this movie be lousy? I only wish Smith had bared more skin too, showing off those 18-inch guns. I also wish Big Bill showed a little more of his psycho side, the side we've come to know and love through 40+ years of cinema.
Seriously, the movie kept my attention, that's all that counts. If you're into trash video from the early 70's, this is for you. It was also nice to see Cliff Osmond, a staple of character-acting parts from the 60s-70s, combine with Smith to catch the bad guys (or girls)...

Do you think this is really inspired by feminist paranoia of the 70s?

reply

thats a good point. some of these cheesy sci fi and horror flics have and underlying philosophy. i.e. night of the living dead, dawn of the dead. plan 9 (more obvious)

I'm a huge fan of "Invasion of the Bee Girls;" it's a deliciously trashy and campy tongue-in-cheek 70's softcore sexploitation riot. William Smith is terrific in the lead. I likewise really dug sexy leading ladies Anitra Ford and Victoria Vetri. The nice nude appearances by Rene Bond, Sharon Kelly and Beverly Powers were quite lovely to behold, too. I think the film is an absolute hoot and a half.

Denis was my film professor and a great guy. He got a kick out of making this one.

This is a great B movie even though I did not see this until I saw it late one night on New Year's Eve on a station known as USA Network and on a show called USA UP ALL NIGHT!

I just recently saw this I think some time this year or last year and sat down watching it on Showtime. I loved watching it and thought it was great! I miss USA UP ALL NIGHT because this was the only kind of movies that they showed.

USA UP ALL NIGHT got me hooked onto B movies and cult classics that is why we need it back on again on the weekends!

No One seems to know this is one of Roger Ebert's guilty pleasures.

Nothing is more beautiful than nothing.

I did not know that it was one of Roger Eberts guilty pleasures. Thanks for letting me know about it.

It was Gene Siskel's guilty pleasure first, but apparently Ebert developed an appreciation for it as well.

this film as in Invasion of the Bee Girls - the movie thread i'm on.

i think you thought i was asking about the movie i was already watching. ha.

reply

Sorry about the misunderstanding. Beverly has a good sized role in "Bee Girls" as a frumpy and repressed unhappy housewife who ain't givin' her frustrated scientist husband any lovin', if you catch my drift.

I'm watching this right now for the first time, and I can say that--8 minutes into the film--that this has got to be a classic B movie: it has Gary Graver as the D.P....the genius cinematographer behind "Dracula Vs. Frankenstein" not to mention countless hardcore "X" movies under the name Robert McCallum!

Anyone who remembers the early '70s ought to dig this one! Bon Apetit!

This film is indeed a lot of fun, and though it's clunky at times, at others it's genuinely creepy. 6/10 stars from me.

reply

I agree. This movie is quite a hoot.

What do you think this is, a signature? It's a way of life!

reply

I've got to admit, this was a good movie. So many of these types of movies are filled with bad dialogue, bad acting and just bad filmmaking. This movies didn't have any of that. It certainly won't win any awards (and it didn't!), but it's very presentable and enjoyable.

reply

This is a good movie. Though it is a bit dated it is still a great watch though it does drag from time to time. I would love to see a modern version of this made.

reply

I suspect it would lose all its charm if somebody decided to "modernize" it.

The title of this thread is spelled wrong.
"Great Bee Movie" would be correct.

(Sorry, I couldn't resist ;)
