opening sequence...

I'd agree the mirror shootout is one of the best shootout scenes ever. The movie kind of went downhill from there to me. Nice to see Fonda in one last western though, he was pretty solid.

It is an awesome scene. Classic Leone - easy to tell that he directed this scene, even if he didn't direct the whole rest of the film.

That opening set piece is masterful - so abstract, economical, deliberately paced, expertly absurd yet with a dose of menace.

Then downhill fast pretty much when that jarring soundtrack cuts in.
