5.9!?

Why such a low rating?

I guess that most people want mindless action, and aren't interested to see the REAL stupidity and ignorance of AH; and the fools that followed him. There is such a cult among people that he was great that he did things etc etc all that baloney, and there is this disappoving backlash when they are presented with something much closer to the truth.

No, this truely is a supurb movie with an exceptional portrayal of AH by sir alec and factually very accurate. I dare say AH is such a buffoon that this really is a comedy- I love laughing at the line in the medical center we he speaks to this wounded general lying on the table- "why did you summon me here ?"; " to personally congratulate you of your new appointment..."

Is the bunker an updated version of this!

This is a "weighted average", which is too low however because it is a great film. I could see how people under 30 could be bored though, because it is does not include a lot of action ...

I find it quite funny weaponcell posted his reply on the 20th of april. ha. also, i just saw this film a few hours ago for the first time and i wasn't impressed upon first seeing it, by coincidence having seen der untergang only 2 days prior, so this version is somewhat dated and has a much more theatrical flare, which i didn't notice on first viewing, but it was replayed 3 hours later and i got a second look and now i rather liked it. and i'm under 30, actually i'm 18, and i quite enjoy these types of dramatic films. the scene at the end after hitler is delcared dead and they all light up a smoke was hilarious! merely for the fact the non-smoking issue was brought up so much. though this isn't as good as the latest german version of the story, i liked it alot, and i think it at least deserves a dvd release. the bunker is getting it's dvd release, so why not this? still think goring should have at least had a cameo physically, but ah well.

It must be the rating system. What amazes me is that The Matrix is rated as one of the 30 best movies of all time! (or was, maybe it's been bumped since Adam Sandler made that movie about some dork who... ).

Sorry.

I see this movie is 6.5 now. It's on the History Channel tonight and I'm hoping to watch part and tape the rest. I love WWII dramas.

Even allowing for the weighting in the ratings, the deviation in favour of modern films on this site is fairly extreme. It used to annoy me, but wth, this is only a fan site and it doesn't matter. It doesn't impact our enjoyment of a movie.

There are some production values let-downs with this movie. For example, I realise men didn't like to get 'extreme' haircuts in the early 70s, and that included actors, but the longer hair on some of the cast was jarring. Also the rather cheap intercutting of documentary footage was poorly done and diminished the work as a fully fledged drama.

There's other stuff I could mention but I'm not here to be negative about the film, which is VERY good. But I do get why some people might mark it down on production quality issues alone.

12 years later it is up to a 6.8 ... which is about where it should be. I wonder where the OP thinks it should fall?
