why bother to get the facts right?

It has already been pointed out to Luciemanet that Theseus and his band are Greeks, not Romans. Theseus was the son of Athenian king Aegeos who killed the Minotauros in Knossos, Crete. Another comment asks why there are axes everywhere on the Amazon decor. Firstly, the labrys was the sacred weapon of the Amazons, and it also makes for a nice symmetry with the fact that this same kind of axe was typical of the Minoan kingdom.

That being said, why bother? The film is totally inaccurate, I will not say historically, as the characters are not historical, but mythologically. The saga of Theseus and the Amazon queen (whose name was Hyppolyta)is totally different from the one shown in the movie. But I don't think that was of any concern to the makers. Nor to the viewers who came to see nude wrestling, not a history lesson.

Luciemanet?

Don't be too harsh on the movie since, as presented on DVD, it's not remotely complete. Too, from the numerous abrupt jump cuts, it's obviously someone's hack re-edited job.

Besides if you really want to get nitpicky Greek wrestling really was done in the nude- entirely in the nude- and the women were only topless. So I agree it's terrible how these filmmakers ignore historical fact!

Actually, the myth is divided - on some it says Theseus' wife was Hippolyta (and his son Hippolyte) and on others as Antiope. Both were Amazon Queens at certain points, but it is greatly known that Antiope is the 'first Amazon to have wed'. So... it's not all wrong. But like you said, history lesson this ain't.

Was wondering where I can get this?

Yes, it's a safe bet that people who watch these types of movies aren't interested in historical facts but rather babes, boobs and (in this case) fully nude wrestling.
