I'd like a simple DVD release

I don't want something with a zillion poorly made extras. I don't want something doctored for re-release as was done with the 1979 "Dracula" which people say now looks terrible.

I just want a simple copy of the movie I so enjoyed when I was young, and I want it on DVD for under $10 (US) because VHS movies have skyrocketed in price and bottomed out in terms of tape and case quality (not as heavy-duty as a decade ago).

I wonder if I'll ever see such a thing.

You're not alone. There are many people who wish for this movie...I haven't seen it yet. And I've been trying to find a copy for years!

stockard_is_god, my daughter (young adult) hasn't seen it yet, either, and it's one of those "important" ones from my youth that I want to share with her.

Hey, does your user ID have the underscores? I couldn't tell, so I stuck them in. Sorry if that was not correct.

Okay, in agreement with everyone. I would LOVE to see this movie. Revenge can be inspiring.

LOL ... Stockard_Worship, a revenge *movie* can be better than cake and ice cream as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, it does have underscores!

reply

Thanks for clarifying, stockard_is_god. Since my post I read on the Help board that people can't put spaces in their ID's anymore, so I guess I can just assume the underscores from now on. See ya!

I can say for sure that that is a FANTASTIC idea. My mom showed this to me as one of her favorite movies that she couldnt wait for me to see. (Slipper and the Rose, Guys and Dolls, Victor Victoria are some of the other ones) I'm still grateful, and the bonus now that I'm out on my own is that any time I want to feel close to my mom I just pop in one of those movies (especially this one) and it's like she's right there watching with me. It's a real bonding experience for a mother and daughter (or father and daughter, if youre male, but my dads opinion on movies tends to be more "but...we SAW that movie already...why are we watching it AGAIN?" whereas my mom and I will have a "Sabrina Day" where we watch the old then the new then the old then the new Sabrina until we pass out from coffee and tea overdoses, basically)

Wah, I'm going to go call my mom!

MGM will be releasing this on DVD 10/4/2005!!! ABC Circle (now Disney) has licensed some titles to MGM with this being one of them. No word on any special features. Wouldn't you love to hear a Stockard Channing audio commmentary? Call or write MGM and tell others you would like this special feature

reply

You pre order it on Amazon, but they have the wrong actress listed as the star. They have Barbara Mills and we all know that is incorrect. I hope they get it right on the released DVD. Wouldn't that be a blow to the credit of Ms. Channing.

reply

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Amazon.com has made quite a few errors that I've noticed regarding actors/actresses, etc. for their products. I'm pretty sure MGM will be on the ball with this release, and like everyone else here I'm glad it's on the way!!!

reply

Yea - Hooray - WhoopWhoop! I almost can't wait to share this with my 24y/o daughter!!

Oh, yes, I'll gladly pay some extra for a commentary if they can get her.

Ok, now I'm getting excited!!

Thanks so much for the info, ironkitten58!!!

Did you ever buy the DVD, and does it have commentary with Joan Rivers and/or Stockard Channing?

Sorry this took so long, but thanks for the info! I think someone said it's available through Netflix, too, but I just gave my account to my daughter. I'm hopeless about returns which is why I buy. LOL
