I got the dvd today and i have to say that this movie was on tv allthe time back in the late 80's. Its a great moive about judging people on whats inside not whats ont eh outside. I guess because I was an ugly duckling and unpopular in highschool this movie effected me. i'm glad i got it on dvd.
shareThis was one of my favorite ABC Movies of the Week. Joan Rivers' razor sharp script was extremely well-executed by the gifted Stockard Channing, who I was first exposed to via this movie and have been a major fan of ever since. As someone who has always ben insecure about my looks, I guess I could relate a lot to the story and to the character and enjoyed the film immensely.
shareI know this is an old thread but yes, I remember it being on all the time when I was a kid. I'm watching it right now online because it popped into my head for some reason and I had to see it again.
And yes, I was a total nerd in high school. Not crazy unpopular but shy with thick thick glasses.

I just got it on DVD today courtesy Amazon. I too remember loving this film the first time I saw it when I was 10. Can't wait to microwave the popcorn and settle down in front of the tube.
shareI used to watch it with my mom. It was a good segue for her to have the talk with me about sexism, the facts of life and all that unpleasantness, but still good memories.
