The Holes on DVD

I just got a hold of the 2001 DVD release, The Holes, from Brentwood Home Video. I am disappointed with it, though I have seen other DVD's from Brentwood that are quite decent, so I don't intend to knock that DVD company. But I would like to find a better video presentation of The Holes / The Down-in-the-Hole Gang / Les Gaspards.

This particular DVD has been mastered from a film print that is cropped to a 4:3 ratio for standard-definition video, and is fuzzy and washed-out enough to be a 16mm print, or likely an 8mm print, of below-average quality. It seems to be a film print intended for TV syndication. I'm used to movie DVD's and tapes that come from 35mm film.

This particular movie deserves the standard DVD / Bluray treatment of full uncut length, letterboxed in its original ratio, in its original language, and mastering from its original film.

If anyone out there cares to, please post your knowledge of a video release of The Holes that is of average or better quality. Some GĂ©rard Depardieu fans would be grateful.
