In France a French version of this great movie is on sale as a DVD. I must stress that the English version is VASTLY superior and must be regarded as the original version. Even the great musical score comes off much, much better in the English version. The main character, played by Trintignant, speaks English with a strong French accent. I suppose you hear the voice of the actor himself which makes perfect sense in the context of the movie. There is another well known French actor in this Movie, Michel Constantin. He appears only in the finale and only speaks a few inconsequential words in French with the Trintignant character. This is a good cross cultural movie.
