Looking for VHS or DVD of this movie...

I am trying to locate a VHS or DVD of this movie... any clues? I have tried Ebay and still nothing... Please help.

We found DVDs of the 1973 version and the 1995 version on Ebay. We bought each around Nov. 15, 2005.

I own the 1973 version but I can't find the 1995 version. I take that back - I did find it and it was $200 + !!! I am a teacher and I would love to share the film with my students after we read the book but that is just too much money! I show them the 1973 version but I have it on VHS and there are no English subtitles (which I assume the new DVD has). As I am a teacher in Japan, the subtitles can help when the speaking gets to fast or too regional (in accents and casual language). Any ideas? Or anyone want to sell theirs - it's a good cause! My students would enjoy it so much and it would help their studies, too!

Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks!

So you probably have it by now or something, but I bought a "10 All Time Classic Movie" DVD which has Charade, To Kill A Mockingbird, The 39 Steps etc. and not realising that The Hideaways meant this movie haven't watched it til now. I saw the 1995 version once but didn't remember the name and have been searching for this movie for years! IMDb doesn't list it with many helpful keywords...
I don't know if you can find the DVD where you are, but that's how I came across it and pretty cheaply too.

Mindelan - can you tell me where you found the "10 All Time Classic Movie" DVD and if that is the exact title? I've been looking for this but can't afford the $200 that they are selling it for on amazon.com and ebay.

Thanks!

Hi, cookiet74 ~
You can get this on VHS from sellers on Amazon. There are several copies from twenty to thirty dollars. (There's also a DVD, but a reviewer says it's a bad transfer plus it costs about ninety dollars. Feh.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/6301915720/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8 &condition=all

If the link doesn't work, go to Amazon and search "The Hideaways". Hope that helps!

I first saw this movie on HBO circa 1974-75 under its original title, although I could swear I remember it as "From The Crazy Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler" and have had a fondness for it ever since. I even saw Sally Praeger in NYC on the street circa 1976. Seems like the title was changed sometime before Home Video...

I remember spending way too much on a VHS for this, and the DVD that was briefly distributed by a no-name company was a bad pan-scan transfer that I think was cut.

SInce Warner got it I hope they at least did a decent uncut transfer... it's listed as 1.85, so maybe it's decent?

My library has this listed as The Hideaways
see if you can find it that way
