Since I saw this movie in 2002 I've had the same question inside my head every time I think of the film. Why her? Why was she possessed? Was there something more going on left to the imagination other than the silly Ouija board. There had to be something attracting the Demon to the family other than that.
shareQuija boards can really screw with people's heads. It's not a toy, kc. I would never let one in my house, or, the kids to interact with one. I still see the damn things in the Goodwill. I won't touch it. I look, but, no way would I lay a hand on it.

shareIn the book Kellycallie, it explains that Reagan is very lonely and she finds the ouija board in the basement closet so to amuse herself, she plays with the ouija board and makes up an imaginary friend named Captain Howdy who later turns out to be the demon. Reagan repeatedly talks to Captain Howdy and he tells her things. Reagan thinks Captain Howdy is nice at first but he later turns out to be evil and sinister. The book is really quite terrifying; far scarier than the movie and it kept me awake at night and too afraid to sleep. I would recommend reading it because the book is fantastic but, you should only read it if you are brave enough...
shareIt's been a while since I've seen it, but I thought it also had something to do with a little demon statue that someone found in the middle East at the beginning of the film that somehow or other ended up in their house. I though that might be why it happened there. I could also be misrememberizing it though.
shareThat's exactly what I thought when I watched it in 2002 for the first time! I thought the demon statue was in the house up in the attic from the previous owners. But this wasn't the case.
