Most of mine are on your list. Not exactly on in that order but pretty close.

Of that list:

1. Exorcist
2. Rosemary's Baby
3. Poltergeist
4. The Omen
And as Miscella quite rightly points out: Trilogy of Terror just for the doll segment.

I'll also add The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945)

Some of the other films on that list are good films to be sure, but they didn't have the same sort of effect on me that The Exorcist et al. did.

The Night Gallery pilot.

The Entity.

The Legend of Hell House (original).

The Haunting (Julie Harris).

The Innocents (Deborah Kerr).

Duel.

OMG yes! Duel! That was BRILLIANT. I saw that when I was a kid and was terrified - thinking it was a driver-less truck that was chasing poor old Dennis Weaver 

Yeah, Spielberg did a good job of obscuring the evil driver, making the viewer concentrate on that dinosaur of a truck...

The Night Gallery pilot.

Yes! I haven't thought of that in years.

But...which one of the three stories did you like best? I think they're all really good, but the third one is my favorite; the one that featured Roddy McDowell.

Sorry for this late reply... I preferred the Richard Kiley/Norma Crane "Nazi in hiding" segment. Great exotic South American musical score (with a chilling kind of Kadash for when the Nazi hunters discover and chase Kiley), outstanding performances by Kiley and Crane, superb production values (at first, I gave a little attention to the thought that they might even have filmed in South America).

My list changes all of the time, although the top two haven't changed for a very long time. At the moment my top 10 are...

1. The Exorcist
2. The Blair Witch Project
3. Possession (1981)
4. Kairo (Pulse)
5. The Shining
6. Let The Right One In
7. Ringu
8. The Thing (Carpenter's version)
9. Paranormal Activity
10. Rosemary's Baby

Awesome list! I was very late on watching The Thing. I watched it 2 weeks ago and it ranks just behind The Exorcist as my favorite horror movie. Holy sh#t, I don't think we're going to see an effects showcase like that in a long time. Crazy good pacing, sense of dread, acting, and felt original considering it came out in 1982...

I also watched Pulse recently. I had trouble sitting in my office chair comfortably. I got the major creeps in the beginning. It felt like it was plucked out of somebody's nightmare.

'The favorites' fluctuate constantly, so this list is just off the top of my head.

1. The Exorcist

2. John Carpenter's The Thing

3. A Tale of Two Sisters

4. Les 7 jours du talion (7 Days) - This is the only film with 'torture' scenes that I recommend horror film lovers to watch. It's disturbingly violent and equally moving. Even if you found Martyrs nasty/distasteful (like me), I still recommend you check out this film. I'm picky with horror flicks (especially the violent ones)... I watched genre-films like Eden Lake & Martyrs only once because I can't endure movies that deliberately depresses its audience... and I was floored with how well crafted this movie was.

5. The Descent (Original UK Cut)

6. Kairo (Pulse)

7. Green Room

8. The Babadook

9. The Exorcist III

10. [REC]

Its a very similar list to mine but The Shining is my favourite. Does Se7en count as a horror movie? The Others was Ok too.
