Great Film!

One of the best, most beautiful, films I've ever seen!

Maybe it's the poem they read in class. Perhaps she is transcribing it. That scene is almost right before it.

Read this on the Trivia page: Cinematographer Luis Cuadrado was going blind at the time this film was made. He eventually went completely blind and committed suicide in 1980.
If it is true he was going blind at the time this was made, i am truly astounded!

Yes! One of my all time favorites. And Torrent's performance is up there too. Best child performance ever: http://www.best5everything.com/best5ListPages/performanceskids22431.php

What a cinematic joy this movie is. Victor Erice does a great job at telling the story without using words.

I love the photography and the quirkiness of the storytelling. And there are some great moments: Ana putting her tiny foot into the huge footprint of the 'monster;' Isobel turning dark with a startling stranglehold on the cat; children jumping through the flames suggesting the superstition of peasant life. Good film.

Agreed. I love this film. It's masterful. Though I can see why A LOT of people don't like this film. Sadly, not many of them are willing to watch something new and original and have their expectations challenged. By the way, if anyone hates this film and is reading this, this isn't a diss toward you.
