A critique to Franco?

Made during Franco's regime, this movie tells the story of how Frankenstein's movie affected a little girl.

Franco. Frankenstein.

Was this done on purpose?

reply

Possibly. The film is implicitly critical of the regime (which allowed it only because they thought no one would watch it), particularly in the content of the mother's letter to, presumably, a lover (all the talk of loss) and in the death of the wounded Republican Ana befriends.
