Would Roper or Williams pose any challenge to Lee at all?

Assuming that Mr. Han was able to force Lee to fight with Roper or Williams in the tournament with the agreement that they would not be killed and that it was needed?

I would have loved to see Williams with his tough style and moves fight Lee, he might have been a real challenge, Roper was tough too but would probably not be as tough as Williams was, both were just close to Lee in terms of ability to pose a threat in friendly fighting.

I would also like to see Roper and Williams be goaded into fighting each other, in a non lethal fight where Han forced them to fight, that might be great, holding back but still putting on a good fight.

And Roper being forced to fight Han would have been great, but he might have struggled a bit too.

Lee would kill Roper and Williams at the same time without breaking a sweat and then go for a workout.

reply

Williams held his own against Han until the bird cage was destroyed and they flew in his face and blocked his view, so i doubt he would be easily defeated, he might get a few good shots in before losing clean at least, not total domination, the three of them were the best fighters there, Parsons lost to Williams easily, and Bolo was handled by Roper easily too, they were not weak fighters because they proved that they could handle themselves.

reply

Yes, Parsons showed those baskets who's boss when they were on the boat

reply

I wouldn't say Roper handled Bolo easily.
I think the best way to think on it is to look at how Lee was starting against O'Hara, and how sharper you'd say Roper or Williams would have to be compared to O'Hara, in order to avoid that. And that's before the fight goes freestyle.
O'Hara is outclassed by Lee, but he's no slob. Aside from dealing with Freddy's goons, Roper's arsenal seems to be made up of haymakers. Williams is better, with good power, but doesn't look to have got the speed.

reply

Both of Lee's "friends" in this could have beaten Ohara thats for sure.

The actor for Williams fought Bolo in a movie once and he TOWERED over him. Bolo is five foot six and Williams is six foot three, 9 inches is a noticeable height difference but Bolo was much stronger so there is a tradeoff.

EVERYONE on that island except for Bruce Lee including Ohara loses to Colt from WAY OF THE DRAGON.

Actually in the initial script Roper was to die in hans office/drug scene. But John Saxon (Roper) agents complained to producers and in fact Williams death was set here. Would of been so much better if they stuck to original ending with both Williams and Lee fighting side by side!

reply

Agreed. Williams was the more interesting character in my opinion.

reply

Agree! Williams over Roper for who seemed a better fighter. Saxon, IMHO, the better actor.
