Why would they think that? Like a lot of movies directed by Robert Aldrich (like KISS ME DEADLY, THE DIRTY DOZEN, and THE LONGEST YARD), EMPEROR OF THE NORTH has a solid anti-authoritarian viewpoint. Great movies, all of them.
