Fern's father and uncle are horrible people.

They both knew how much Fern loved Wilbur, but still were going to kill him. If Charlotte had not come along and saved his live, he would have been slaughtered by being bashed in the head and hung upside down while his throat was slit to bleed out and then chopped up and cooked and consumed. How in the hell can you do that to your kid? How could Fern ever look at either one of them the same ever again? I understand animals are killed so i can eat their flesh, it is a sad and unpleasant part of being a meat eater, However, I would never kill and consume an animal that I knew was a pet and loved by a small child, esp my own kid. That would be like letting my kid have a dog from a puppy till an adult and then selling it to my brother so he can kill and eat it. Wilbur was Fern's beloved pet, and they both knew this, they must have seen her walking him around town in the stroller and singing to him and bathing him and loving him, yet it did not stop Fern's father from not only taking Wilbur away from Fern, but also selling it to family members so they could kill it and eat it!!!...(people who are suppose to love her and protect her from hurt).. That is pretty F'ed up thing to do to a kid!!. I wonder what Fern would have done had this happened? Staring blankly out her bedroom window at Wilbur's empty box and blanket, heart broken... Would her family member's have felt like complete *beep* if she ended up killing herself because her beloved talking pig Wilbur had been slaughtered and eaten by them or maybe she went nuts and burned down the farm Wilbur was at all the while singing and naked rolling around in mud like a pig?? Even as a kid when i watched this in the 80's, I always thought that was a messed up thing to do. Facts of life or not, His daughter's heart and feelings should have been more important then money and selling Wilbur to some fat-ass old prick and his crazy butter milk bath obsessed fat-ass wife (who certainly did not need any more food as they were far from starving). It is not even like Wilbur was counted as part of Fern's fathers profit making either, hell he was going to kill Wilbur as a runt anyways, no profit to be had. It was only after Fern made Wilbur plump, juicy and tasty looking, is when his urges to make money, Eat wilbur and destroy his daughters soul came into play...what was the purpose of doing something so cruel like that to his kid??? ...and as for her Uncle and aunt, Like they needed more pork and fatty *beep* to eat. Seriously messed up thing to do to a kid, they are horrible people. End rant.....

The animals don't really speak in the same way that humans do. They're just given human voices so you can better understand what they're trying to convey to the other animals. It's the same thing with the babies in the "Rugrats" cartoon. While Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil appear to be to talking in "normal" human dialog, they're actually just speaking baby talk, and their manner of speech has been "upgraded" to give you a better idea of what's being said among the children. Angelica is actually the only kid whose vocabulary is advanced enough that she can communicate effectively with the adults.
