Of course. The axe murder in the back on the lawn when the person's back was turned was an identical killing. Many other similarities throughout as well.

There are a lot of similarities to One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. Dr. Masters was like Nurse Ratchet, if Ratchet was a patient (and a lot of viewers thought she was sadistic enough to have been), and Sam was a lot like Chief. The story led down the same type of path, with the patients' uprising and the sad ending.

I didn't even notice the similarities until people on this board pointed them out and then I decided they're all completely right. Both films are great but the similarities are too close to just be coincidental.

I think the new M Night film, "The Visit" owes a lot to this movie.
