The only thing I WISH we could have seen... (spoiler)

Was Sally actually getting dragged INTO the fireplace. We hear her screaming, but we never see her close to it or being pulled in. I know it's implied and some would say it's better we don't see it, but I expected the image of her being dragged in. I also read on here that some people recall an extended ending of the film when it was aired on television, which included Jim Hutton developing the photos Sally took of the creatures with the camera as she was being pulled down the staircase.
