scariest movie of all the times!

I saw bits of this movie on a re-broadcast in my home country when I was about 3. Obviously, I had no business watching it. This movie did for the dark what Jaws did for fear of being in the ocean. Don't know what the movie made me more afraid of: darkness, shawdowy movement in the dark, or indiscernable sounds when it's dark.

If I had seen this as a kid, I would have found it scary. I saw it for the first time at the tender age of 35 (a few weeks ago) and for the second time tonight (Halloween). Not very scary, but it's a good story with wonderful Eye Candy. :)

Yes, I imagine this must be terrifying for young children. I don't get scared by horror movies but I love them very much anyways. However, if I did get scared by them, this would probably be one that accomplished that effect.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

I like the movie, I really do.
But let's be fair. Almost ANYTHING you watch at age 3 is gonna be scary. When I was little I was scared of things that happened in television shows and even some films that were meant for kids.
But watch it as an adult and it's another story.
Like I said, I like the film. I even own it. But it's not scary at all.
And if you do find it scary as an adult it's because you're remembering how it effected you as a child.
Like even today when I watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the scene where they take the boat through the scary tunnel - it still takes me back to when I was seven years old and scared to death and hiding my eyes

I really miss these sort of features. Too much gore today.

I agree. For years I referred to this and The Exorcist as the only movies I won't watch alone or at night. Then I did. I enjoyed it but truthfully, only a few parts were really scary...the voices mostly. But other than that, it was just enjoyable, not the terrifying film I remember as a 9 year old.
Good point about just remembering how it was when we were kids.
