Get the posts rollin!!!

Me and my girlfriend (who incidentally has the surname 'Digby') Just watched this film and loved it. A definite feelgood classic that we'd recommend to anyone. We both came straight on here and were surprised and a little dissappointed that there were no posts or comments on this film. So lets start by asking who else has seen this film and what their opinoions of it were? Diiigggbby!!!

The sleeper must awaken.

Digby was one of those dime a dozen, interchangable, cute, "for kids" type films that would regularly grace our small town one-screener. I only got to see it in the theater way back when, but remember it fondly ... and I still recall quite a few details, believe it or not. I wish they'd get a restored widescreen print of it on DVD but not really holding my breath on that. I haven't checked ebay yet but the VHS version for sale at Amazon is the PAl format which American VCRs won't play, I don't think.

I love it!! It reminds me of being a young child at Easter, throwing up my chocolate eggs over my blanket and then settling down to watch Chariots of fire.

it came out the year i was born so it must have been a rerelease
my mum then hired it a few years later on video
i saw a copy on sale in my local cex today for just £2
im now getting ready to watch it again for the first time in over 25 years
with my 7 year old daughter-wonder what she will make of it

I believe this was released in the U.K. back in 1973-1974, but it didn't make it to the U.S. until 1977 when I first saw it. I was only 12yr old back then and this was actually the very first movie I saw by myself at a theater. It was shown at an Independent Theater in Cambridge, MA in Central Sq. The theater is now long gone of course, but I remember it well as it had 2 theaters. In the other theater the movie "The Man Who Fell To Earth" was playing.

I remember asking my mother if she would take me, but she was busy and didn't want to go. So I asked if I could go by myself and she agreed as long as I was very careful crossing the streets and came straight home after it was over. She gave me $5 for the movie, food/drink. The theater was only about a mile from my home. Took me about 15mins to get there. Paid for my ticket, got my popcorn and drink and went it. Theater was small and there were a couple other people in there with some kids. I don't remember is any trailers were shown. I vaguely remember the film. I knew there scientist and some bad guys who steal Digby. I remember there were some funny scenes in it. I know there were some catchy songs as well. I know I enjoyed it, because when I got home I told my mother all about it. I think she was just happy I got home in one peace.

I'll have to get it if it ever comes out on DVD. I checked EBay and it is on DVD, but it's U.K. only. It won't play on U.S. DVD unless you have a Region Free DVD/Blu-Ray player.
