Languages spoken and subtitling

I have seen this in an English dub, with Turkish subtitles.

The spoken English is subtitled in Turkish and the language spoken by the jungle community is also subtitled in Turkish.

First: What is the spoken language of the jungle village community? Is it Burmese? Presumably, since Me Me Lei is partly Burmese, it is the language she’d have a chance at speaking (even if badly pronounced).

Second: Is there an English subtitled version where the Burmese (?) is translated? My assumption is that the non-native viewer is not supposed to understand the Burmese; s/he is supposed to experience it from the POV of the “Westerner.” So was some decision made by Turks and other subtitles to go ahead and translate the Burmese?

I know this is a late reply but...

the Shriek Show/Media Blasters DVD has English and Italian soundtracks. The subtitles are done rather poorly however... you can watch with either no subtitles anywhere (including no translation to the natives language) OR watch with subtitles to all dialogue (the subtitles and the spoken English soundtrack differ quite a bit, making the subtitles annoying).

Unfortunately, there is no way to have the subtitles only appear when the natives are speaking Burmese (this would have been perfect)... so either all the dialogue is subtitled or none of it is... still this is probably the best DVD to get, though I haven't checked out the Region 2 DVDs.

This DVD is only Region 1.
