The Ending (spoilers)

Caught this last night on Encore. I really like the cast in this movie. Neville Brand in particular is one of my all time favorite actors. And really, I can deal with a non-happy ending in a movie - but this one just did not click for me. I'm definitely not going to trash the whole movie based on the ending, but for me the last scene was just kind of "huh?" The Letteiri character was coming off as the conscience of the movie throughout the film, but his sense of justice at the end seemed, well, off in what he decided to do. It just didn't seem consistent with the character.
