Martin Segundo and the Sentilla Strings, playing "When Twilight Falls on NGC-891..."

<i>"As god as my witness... I thought turkeys could fly."</i>

I know! I've been trying to find the origin of this lovely tune, which I find incredibly nostalgic for some reason.

Is/was it penned by John Carpenter? If not, who is Martin Segundo and the Scintilla(Sentella?) Strings?

Have tried searching for Martin Segundo, and cannot find anything by the artist. Would love to find the complete original of this tune - I have an MP3 of it, but it's simply a rough clip from the movie, with the computer's dialogue announcing the tune.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of the tune and others like it, please tell.

I think this is a spoof. I very much doubt Martin Segundo ever existed.

It is just about the most generic elevator/shopping mall music you can find and it was probably written specially for this purpose, to show the mind numbing tedium of life aboard the ship, living in a food locker.

NGC 891 is a galaxy somewhere.

It's library music.

The track is Spring Bossa by James Clarke on KPM 1021 - A Light Jazz Feeling:

Yes, a lot of stuff on KPM has been used in film and television over the decades. Some of it really great stuff.
