Don't rate this as a 10 as ratings of 10 are discountedas IMDb think you are boosting votes.I always vote 9 for a film I love and I love this film.

I love Kubrick. I love Strangelove. I love 2001. But those films have satirical weak points and those weak points are skewered in Dark Star.

Get the new 2-disc DVD as it fills out why this student film became a milestone in sci-fi comedy. Carpenter went on to make many ingenius, witty, well-read, intelligent,pro-fun, Rock and Roll yet Classical and above all, professional. He has had a great life so far. I hope for a final kick in the balls on a friday night from John!

It's unfortunate the amount of unfair votes films get either great ones are lower than they should be, or all these new ones are way too high.
I don't think IMDB discounts any high or low vote, is that a fact?
